Driving along HWY 2 into Eastern Montana today, between Bainville, MT and Culbertson, MT the aftermath of a train hitting a semi was not a pretty sight.
One could not be sure as to what the train had hit. The wreckage was  mangled and strewn along the ditch so far that  the only major thing that stood out was the bottom frame of the truck and the cab around three hundred yard or more away, completely detached.
Headed back home just past dusk, there were many semis hauling heavy machinery to the scene of the accident to clean up the derailed train cars.

What even startled me more was the fact that TWO of the train engines  were on their side, one almost on it’s roof.  The AP (Associated Press) stated that diesel fuel in the amount of around 500 gallons had spilled but had been contained.  Multiple containers were ripped open like a candy bar and their contents were pouring out.  Dishwashers littered the ground around one container, quite the odd sight.

The semi driver was airlifted to a hospital and his condition is unknown at this time.  The crew of the train were not seriously injured according to BNSF.
